As a church we have been supporting projects at the hospitals in Malindi and Malosa now for over 5 years. With help from the village we have built a nurses' home, bought clean hygienic mattresses, provided the only meal of the day for orphans during a bad drought and funded “ambulances” – bedsteads on bicycle wheels!
We are now sponsoring Joseph Mphepo, an orphan himself, through nurse training for 3 years and need to raise £4,500 for fees, accommodation, food and text books. He will work at St Luke’s, Malosa or St Martin’s, Malindi after qualifying so we are developing the skills of someone local in order to meet the huge shortage in qualified nurses.
Will the money get where it is needed? YES! Every single penny from the Ball apart from the basic cost of food will be used directly for this project – no admin fees or overheads will be deducted.
